HouseShare App Privacy

This privacy notice explains how the GaelDev HouseShare app handles information. HouseShare stores your account and your house's shared information (bins, bills, balances, events and fridge notes) in Google Firebase, so everyone in the house sees the same thing. Only members of a house can see that house's data.
Data the app handles
- Account details: email address, display name and password: To sign you in and show housemates who did what. Where it's kept: Google Firebase Authentication. Passwords are handled by Firebase and never visible to us.
- House data: bin schedules, bills, payment shares, settlements, events and fridge notes: The app's features, shared with the members of your house. Where it's kept: Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore, EU region).
- Invitations: To invite housemates by email or invite code. Where it's kept: Google Firebase.
- Device push token: To send you reminders and updates about your house, if you allow notifications. Where it's kept: Google Firebase Cloud Messaging.
Permissions
The app asks for these permissions only when a feature needs them. You can refuse or withdraw them in your device settings.
- Notifications: Optional: reminders about bins and bills, and updates from your housemates.
Third-party services
- Google Firebase: Sign-in, database, notifications and server functions. (privacy policy)
Data sharing and selling
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. Data is shared only with the services listed above, and only to provide the app's features.
Deleting your data
In the app, open the House tab and tap Delete account (if you haven't joined a house yet, tap Delete account on the house set-up screen), then enter your password to confirm. Your account, profile, notifications and sign-in are deleted immediately, and you leave every house; a house you were the only member of is deleted with everything in it. Shared house records that other members still need (for example a bill you split) are kept for them with your name removed. If you can't use the app, email info@gaeldev.ie from the address you sign in with and we will delete your account within 30 days.

Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Legal basis and rights (GDPR)
GaelDev is based in Ireland. We process data to provide the app's features you use (contract) and to keep it reliable (legitimate interests). You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your data, and to object to processing. To exercise these rights, email info@gaeldev.ie. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
Changes
We may update this notice when the app changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
