Flashcards App Privacy

This privacy notice explains how the GaelDev Flashcards app handles information. Your decks and study history are stored on your device. The app only sends them anywhere if you choose to sync with a server you set up yourself. The camera, if you turn on camera grading, is analysed on the device and nothing is stored or sent.
Data the app handles
- Decks, cards, media and study history: To show and schedule your flashcards. Where it's kept: On your device, and on your own sync server if you set one up.
- Sync server address and sign-in: Optional: to sync with a server you run. Where it's kept: On your device.
Permissions
The app asks for these permissions only when a feature needs them. You can refuse or withdraw them in your device settings.
- Camera: Optional camera grading: watches for a hand gesture to answer a card. Frames are analysed on the device and never stored or sent.
- Files: To import Anki deck files (.apkg, .colpkg) you choose.
Third-party services
- Google ML Kit (on-device): Recognises hand gestures for camera grading. It runs on the device; camera frames aren't sent to Google. (privacy policy)
Data sharing and selling
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. Data is shared only with the services listed above, and only to provide the app's features.
Deleting your data
Delete decks in the app, or remove everything by uninstalling the app or clearing its storage. If you sync with your own server, delete the data there too. GaelDev doesn't hold a copy.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Legal basis and rights (GDPR)
GaelDev is based in Ireland. We process data to provide the app's features you use (contract) and to keep it reliable (legitimate interests). You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your data, and to object to processing. To exercise these rights, email info@gaeldev.ie. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
Changes
We may update this notice when the app changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
